The shop's reviews, anywhere

A testimonials carousel on the home page: each card with its stars, the review, the reviewer and the product

A testimonials section on the home page, a strip of reviews in the footer, the best comments on a landing page: there is no component to place, and none is needed. The plugin publishes the whole shop's reviews as a list, on every page, and an Etch Loop draws them with the card you design. That carousel is a loop inside the Fancy Slider.

The two lists

Loop targetWhat it holds
options.fecommerce.top_reviewsThe latest reviews with four or five stars
options.fecommerce.reviewsThe latest reviews, whatever their rating

Newest first, 24 at most, and only approved reviews of products the shop shows. They are options, not this: they do not depend on the page they are read from, so the same loop works on the home page, a landing page or a template.

Build the loop

1. Add a Loop where the reviews go, and give it the list as its target and a name for each item. Written as Etch code it is:

{#loop options.fecommerce.top_reviews.slice(0, 6) as review}
<article class="review-card">
<blockquote>{review.excerpt}</blockquote>
<p>{review.author} · <a href="{review.product.permalink}">{review.product.title}</a></p>
</article>
{/loop}

slice(0, 6) takes the first six; leave it out for all 24.

2. Design the card inside the loop with any elements, reading the fields below.

3. Add the stars: place the Product Rating component inside the card and set its Rating to {review.rating} and its Rating label to {review.rating_label} — the same stars as on the product page, with the sentence a screen reader needs. Turn off Show the text beside the stars if the card only wants the stars.

4. «Verified purchase», if you want it: put that line inside a condition on review.verified.

For a carousel, put the loop inside a slider's slides and one card per review becomes one slide.

What each review has

If the loop's item is called review:

FieldExample
{review.author} · {review.initials}Ada Lovelace · AL
{review.rating} · {review.rating_label}5 · Rated 5 out of 5
{review.text} · {review.excerpt}The whole review · its first 30 words
{review.date} · {review.date_label}For a <time datetime> · September 10, 2026
{review.verified}Whether the reviewer bought it — for a condition
{review.url}The review itself, on its product page
{review.product.title} · {review.product.permalink} · {review.product.id}The product it is about
{review.product.image_id} · {review.product.image} · {review.product.image_alt}Its photo: the id for a dynamic image, the address for an <img>

Good to know

  • Nothing more about the reviewer than the product page already shows: the name they wrote, never the email, and initials rather than a Gravatar.
  • It costs a page nothing: the list is kept ready and refreshed the moment a review or its product changes.
  • Three stars and up in top_reviews? The filter fancy_etch/woo/top_reviews_min_rating takes the number.
  • The reviews of one product, on its own page, are the Product Reviews component.
